Preserving Traditions, One Story at a Time

Traditions are the heart of who we are. They connect us to our roots, our values, and to each other. Through them, we carry the voices of those who came before us, passing down customs, celebrations, and even the little superstitions that make cultures unique. But what happens when traditions start to fade?

In a fast-changing world, many customs are slowly being forgotten, especially for those who live far from their ancestral homelands. Children growing up abroad may not have the same experiences their parents and grandparents did. That’s why I believe it’s crucial to document, celebrate, and revive these traditions so they remain alive for generations to come.

This passion led me to create the Our Very Greek series, a collection of beautifully illustrated books that introduce young readers to the wonders of Greek heritage. And today, I’m beyond excited to introduce the newest book in the series: Our Very Greek Traditions & A Few Superstitions—now an Amazon #1 New Release!

A Year of Greek Traditions, Captured in One Magical Book

Our Very Greek Traditions & A Few Superstitions takes young readers through the seasons, exploring the customs that have shaped Greek life for centuries. From joyful name-day celebrations and the magic of Theophania to the fun-filled energy of Apokries and the deep symbolism of Easter, this book highlights the traditions that make Greece special.

But no journey through Greek culture would be complete without its superstitions! Children will also discover the playful quirks of Greek beliefs—like why we say “touch red” when we speak at the same time, the meaning behind smashing pomegranates for good luck on New Year’s, and how the evil eye continues to be a strong part of everyday life.

With vibrant illustrations and engaging storytelling, this book is a way for children and families to experience their heritage in a fun, memorable way.

Why This Book Matters

Traditions shape identity, build community, and offer a sense of belonging. As a Greek living abroad, I know firsthand how easy it is for cultural elements to fade into the background when you’re surrounded by a different way of life. But I also know the joy of reconnecting with my roots—through stories, celebrations, and the small traditions that bring comfort and familiarity.

This book is my way of making sure that no matter where they are, children with Greek heritage can still feel connected to their culture. And even for those not Greek, it offers a beautiful glimpse into the customs that define this vibrant and welcoming culture.

Bringing a Piece of Greece to Readers Everywhere

I am so proud to share this project with the world, and I hope it brings a little piece of Greece into the hearts and homes of readers everywhere. Whether you’re Greek, have Greek friends, or simply love learning about different cultures, Our Very Greek Traditions & A Few Superstitions is a book that invites everyone to celebrate the magic of tradition.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. What traditions do you cherish the most? Let’s keep these stories alive together.
